Grow Waynesboro launched in 2016 as an initiative to find, fund, and support the City of Waynesboro’s newest entrepreneurs. Over their first season, they interviewed community residents about their visions for the local economy, gave away more than $20,000 to deserving start-up businesses, and jump-started a conversation about how to create a dynamic and exciting local economy in the City.

Growing into their name, in 2017 Grow Waynesboro more than doubled the amount of start-up grants they gave away. Local entrepreneurs received $51,000 in grant funding and expert business training, launching a new wave of start-up local businesses.

Pine Knot Projects joined Grow Waynesboro for early program design, grant writing, website development, and ultimately wrote the award applications that resulted in 2016 and 2017 Awards of Excellence from the International Economic Development Council.

One of the most joyous parts of working with Grow Waynesboro has been helping tell the stories of the local entrepreneurs who are growing, thriving, and changing the City’s local economy landscape. Ghost writing many of the “Meet the Entrepreneurs” profiles for the initiative, you can read Pine Knot Projects authored stories of the many entrepreneurs below:
